The shop sold both, but he said that, despite it being less expensive, the Stinger was his favorite of the slim saddles, so I gave it a shot.That was five years and thousands of miles ago, after countless 30-70 mile rides, and he was right; the Stinger is an excellent saddle.* It fits me well, is light, and has held up as well as the best saddles I've owned and better than some more expensive saddles. Most of my rides are middle distance, and for that it's wonderful, being slightly more supple than some other slim saddles. It's not ideal for touring, though it worked for me in a pinch. Construction and design are excellent. The first couple rides of 20-30 miles went well, but when I stretched the trips out over 50 miles... well, it was a stinger. I just couldn't find a comfortable position (except standing). Ouch!Part way through my last ride I swapped out the seat for my Brooks B17. The Singer made my Brooks leather saddle feel like a foot thick cushion. I miss my Avocet Gelflex 20 (no longer made). |
